Job Overview:
The Flagger (Traffic Control Specialist) is responsible for directing vehicle and pedestrian traffic, setting up safety equipment, and maintaining a secure work zone. This position requires strong attention to detail, communication skills, and the ability to stand for extended periods in various weather conditions.
Responsibilities:
Direct and control traffic using hand signals, flags, or STOP/SLOW paddles.
Set up and remove traffic control devices such as cones, barricades, and signage.
Communicate effectively with construction crews and drivers to ensure smooth traffic movement.
Monitor traffic conditions and adjust controls as necessary.
Ensure compliance with state and local traffic safety laws.
Report any unsafe conditions, accidents, or incidents in the work zone.
Work Environment:
Flaggers work outdoors in all weather conditions, often in high-traffic areas or construction sites. The role requires standing for long periods and maintaining awareness of surroundings at all times.
Schedule and Hours:
Temporary and gig-based assignments with flexible schedules.
May include weekend, overnight, and extended shifts based on project needs.
